Black Rock Geosciences offers an experienced, dedicated, and highly-trained staff that understands the requirements and standards necessary for characterizing and mitigating environmental conditions successfully. Our staff’s multi-disciplinary expertise includes geology, ecology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, and geotechnical engineering. We hold professional registrations in Washington, California, and Alaska, including Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) licenses. We are licensed and insured.
The original Black Rock Geosciences was founded in 1997 by Quin Kinnebrew in Orange, California. In 2017, Neil Kinnebrew opened Black Rock Geosciences LLC in Wenatchee, Washington. Both locations are highly technical organizations that frequently collaborate on projects to ensure that their customers, wherever they are located, receive the best possible product at the most cost-effective price.
Neil Kinnebrew: Partner and Professional Geologist. Neil has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of Site Investigation and Remediation, Regulatory Compliance, Petroleum Geology, and Groundwater Contaminant Fate and Transport. Prior to joining BRG, Neil worked as a hydrogeologist and project manager for CH2M Hill and Jacobs Engineering, and he was the Mining Geology Operations Manager at BP Exploration Alaska. Furthermore, he has over 5 years experience performing geohazard assessments in Central Washington. His environmental work has focused on remedial investigation/feasibility study projects, remedial design/action projects, solid waste landfills, wetlands treatment, groundwater monitoring, soil gas investigation, and projects involving groundwater and contaminant transport modeling.
In addition to his laboratory research investigating microbially-enhanced hydrocarbon remediation and fate and transport of heavy metals within acid mine drainage, Neil possesses a diverse project management background. His unique project history includes the closure of contaminated sites on remote Alaskan Air Force Bases, the recovery and remediation of a highly sensitive plane crash site in remote Alaska, and the remediation of leachate migration from an unlined landfill on Kodiak Island. Today, Neil leverages his diverse technical and management experiences to resolve smaller-scale environmental challenges and to meet the needs of clients in Washington State.
